CHSAA Team Camp Preview: Cardinal Hayes
Amadou Barry, 2027, C--At 6-foot-10 and 255 pounds, Barry is an inside/outside scoring threat who has shed weight while becoming lighter on his feet these last several months.
The mountain man of a prospect has a delicate touch from 18-feet, one which he can extend beyond the arc.
He has improved incrementally with his post game, as he’s realized his ability to exploit mismatches and bulldoze smaller defenders to the rim.
With his feathery touch from short range and mid range, Barry consistently drags rim protectors away from the paint.
His game took off during the 2025-26 campaign, as he piled up multiple double doubles throughout.
Barry proved he can be a reliable floor stretcher, as he turned in multiple games in which he stuck two 3-pointers or more.
A four-year player, Barry has continued to improve with his mid post and back to the rim game.
With weathered, proven guards such as Hector Almodovar and Brice Yancey getting him the ball in the trenches, he has all the tools to author a breakout senior season.
Barry currently holds offers from Quinnipiac, St. Peter's and Duquesne. Manhattan has recently expressed interest in the big fella.
With his skill set and ability to pass the ball and step out and knock down the 3 at his size, Barry possesses intangibles and translatable aspects which align with today's game.
Brice Yancey, 2028, G--The 6-foot combo guard brings length and the savvy emblematic of a junkyard dog New York City guard.
He was an integral component in Hayes’ perimeter game, as he stuck 3-pointers with consistency and engineered scoring spurts throughout.
Yancey had several promising showings, including a 21-point performance during a regular season victory over Iona Prep and a 23-point game during the city semifinals.
Yancey was 6-for-8 during the first half against a Stepinac team teeming with high major-bound talent in the title game, impacting the game on both sides of the floor.
With his length and ability to guard multiple positions, Yancey is flushed into a leadership role as a seasoned guard who has played a critical role since his freshman season.
Christian Brown, 2027, G/W--The 6-foot-4 Brown enters a heavily anticipated senior season as one of the deadliest 3-point trigger men in the city and the tri-state area.
Brown had multiple games in which he stuck 3-pointers or more and routinely rattled off points in a hurry and reeled off significant impact scoring runs this past season.
Brown came of age during the CHSAA semifinal at Fordham University against Nazareth, scoring 23 points and sticking four consecutive 3-pointers during the first half.
A highly efficient scoring source, Brown is a tactical three-level scorer who never forces the issue.
He’s developed his all around game this past season, rapidly emerging into a more explosive threat and also playing mindful defense while covering multiple positions.
Hector Almodovar, 2028, PG--The blurrish quick Class of 2028 point guard has been an adequate game manager and table setter, operating offensive as a true and traditional point guard.
The rising junior has been a calming influence as the primary ball handler. Defensively, he brings peskiness and grit as a guy who can harass ball handlers and instigate turnovers both on and off the ball.
Souleymone Kone, 2028, G: Kone is an essential piece in a deep backcourt. He showed out in several critical league wins last year, including a 16-point showing off the bench in a home win over St. Raymond's.
With a smooth touch, Kone has become a consistent catch and stick presence for a team which routinely shoots corner 3s.
He has developed positional uniqueness with his ability to snatch rebounds. With significant lift off, he possesses athleticism and an ability to knife his way to the rim.
