CHSAA Team Camp Preview: Christ The King
Johnny Magna, 2027, G--Magna enters his heavily anticipated senior season as one of the most proven, critical players in the CHSAA “AA.”
After garnering first team All-CHSAA honors alongside a star spangled and mid to high major-bound core, the LaSalle-commit will catalyze an experienced core.
The Royals overcame a seesaw regular season, thriving during the stretch run en route to a Brooklyn/Queens championship.
The 6-foot-4 Magna is a stabilizing influence with the ball in his hands, as he piled up multiple games of nine assists or more last season.
Leaning on his length and knack for snatching boards out of the box, Magna is an embodiment of a versatile, interchangeable backcourt.
A hard-attacking guard with a vaunted first step, Magna has a real proficiency at carving up defenses.
Magna was the engine which helped propel Christ The King in the aforementioned B/Q title game. The Queens native turned in a pair of back to back traditional 3-point plays while scoring 13 of his 15 points during the second half.
A torrid scoring pace catapulted Magna to the upper percentile of the country’s top scoring threats in his age group last summer, as he was third nationally in the EYBL in PPG at 26.1.
While playing for longtime Christ The King head coach Joe Arbitiello, Magna adapted to the niceties of the traditional point guard role.
He chose LaSalle over suitors such as Arizona State, Illinois, East Carolina, and others.
Skyler Ragoo, 2028, G--The 6-foot-5 guard authored a breakout sophomore campaign in Middle Village last season, becoming a reliable catch-and-stick perimeter presence with a thorough scoring arsenal.
A consistent outside shot-making source, it was Ragoo’s 20-point showing which pioneered CTK to the aforementioned B/Q title in 2026.
Playing for the New York Lightning this off-season, Ragoo has continued to sustain a polished three-level scoring repertoire.
He’s been effective at creating space off the dribble and also displaying a purity of vision with his slick passing arsenal.
Ragoo brings length, an ability to handle the ball and create for himself and others off seperation, and an innate feel for the game.
He can be employed at either backcourt spot and will return in a prominent role for Christ The King in 2026-27.
As a floor-spreader and a spurt-able scoring threat, Ragoo has all the integral ingredients to be one of the conference’s top guards.
Aaron Ellis, 2028, G --Ellis was a revelation during last year’s post-season. He rapidly evolved into a game-altering source who sparked vital runs with his deft outside shooting touch. He developed knack for turning in significant plays, which had a lasting impact in several notable victories during the regular and post-season.
Another vital piece in CTK’s long range shooting presence and an efficient scorer with an adeptness for changing speeds, Ellis had a memorable showing during a thorough throttling of Molloy HS.
He splashed six 3-pointers during the second half and swooped in for an electrifying dunk, as the Royals opened up the post-season with a reverberating bang.
Gaoussou Samake, 2028, F/C: The Powerfully built, athletic finisher is a promising interior piece with his catch and dunk game and ability to protect the rim.
Samake’s proficiency around the rim as a scoring threat at point blank, along with his ability to swat and change the trajectory of shots, was evident during the RealScout Showcase in Manhattan back in April.
He possesses a good feel for the game and an ability to play a major role this season.
Bablen Traore, 2027, W: The 6-foot-6 guard/forward brings a high motor and a knack for carving his way to the rim, as he's shown flashes as a ferocious finisher.
Traore brings college ready physicality and another efficiency scoring source for the Royals.
As he showed during the aforementioned Real Scout Showcase, Traore is buoyed by a guard's skill set and ability to put the ball on the deck.
