CHSAA Team Camp Preview: Iona Prep
Tommy Wolf, 2027, G: The 6-foot-4 lefty enters his senior season as one of the conference’s most proven, weathered high scoring threats.
A vital piece in the Gaels’ perimeter game, Wolf possesses range and spurt-ability. He is a guy capable of engineering a run at any juncture of the game.
This much was evident during his junior season, as he turned in a handful of games of 22 or more points, including a 23-point, six rebound and three steal showing against Holy Cross.
A fluid athlete who sits down on guards and is no stranger to playing gritty, anticipate a leadership role for one of the faces of the uber competitive CHSAA “AA” conference in 2026-2027.
Mike Kmetz, G/F 2027: A well built 6-foot-5 lefty, Kmetz opened up his scoring repertoire during a breakthrough junior season.
Beyond sticking shots on the move and picking his spots effectively, Kmetz refined his all around game this past season by showing an adeptness for finishing through contact. He brings college ready physicality and has become an active ingredient on the offensive and defensive glass, showing a propensity to vacuum rebounds and grapple for 50-50 balls.
Chase Robinson, 2027, G: The 6-foot-1 Robinson is a catalyst in the Gaels’ wall to wall pressure, as he turned in multiple games of three or more steals last season.
With his quickness and surges to the rim, he has the opportunity to step into a significant scoring role this ensuing year. He came alive in several games last season, including a 13-point performance during a win over Mount Vernon at home.
After several games of double digit scoring performances, Robinson has the bedrock attributes to be a glue guy and reliable supplemental scoring source.
Dilen Mulaj, 2028, C: If you see this guy in a fight with a few sharks...please, pray for the sharks.
A monstrous behemoth at 6-foot-10 and 335 pounds, Mulaj is a heavily pursued football recruit who brings a space eating interior presence.
He is active on the glass and has the rim protecting apttitude to steer the driving lanes clear.
He has steadily emerged into a catch and finish threat who could emerge into a big focal point, both figuratively and literally, next season.
Michael OMeara, 2028, G: Omeara is a promising newcomer who was a focal point on the JV last season. He brings a versatile approach as a shot maker capable of eliciting mismatches.
With his size and skill set, he has the opportunity to offer instant contributions as a reliable piece next season.
Baylor Lapin, 2028, G: Recently offered by Portland State, Lapin is a high level game manager with an IQ and shiftiness. He brings a reliable catch and stick game.
As he has shown playing for the Gauchos this off-season, Lapin is a proficient scorer with a knack for corner 3-pointers and an ability to identify shot pockets and pick his spots accordingly.
Matt Shmegal, 2028, G/F: At 6-foot-4, Shmegal is anticipatory and an active ingredient on the offensive and defensive glass.
He brings an adeptness of feel for the game and defensive uniqueness with his ability to cover multiple positions. He has surfaced as a hard attacking source who also provides hustle points.
