March Stock Risers
Javan Webb, Scanlan--The 6-foot-6 lefty has been workmanlike and dynamic with his offensive skill set.
The play of Webb, who scored 14 points and tore down 13 boards in Scanlan’s CHSAA “AA” quarterfinal victory over Christ The King, has been an essential element for Scanlan’s post season run.
Webb has relished contact and played with the mentality of a big in the trenches.
He has the tools to be a significant late “get” on the Division-I market.
DaQuan Bryant, St. John’s Prep--The gritty guard made decisive plays on both ends of the floor in helping catapult SJP to a 2026 CHSAA-A title over St. Joseph’s By the Sea.
Bryant, who stuck a trio of timely 3-pointers in the second half, had hand in seemingly every critical play as SJP captured back to back city championships for the first time in 20 years.
He has been a vital figure in a program that’s been rejuvenated considerably beginning three seasons ago.
While the shooting prowess and high scoring guard mentality of Bryant paid major dividends, his relentlessness and nose for the ball is a noteworthy facet of his game defensively.
Lee Robinson, Eagle BK--The emergence of Robinson and his all around scoring has paralleled the success of Eagle Brooklyn, which has had a major upper hand on the PSAL throughout this memorable season.
Robinson has had several games of 30+ points. He went eyeball to eyeball with arguably the best scorer in the country in Missouri-bound Class of 2026 guard Jason Crowe of Inglewood HS (CA).
Crowe erupted for 56 points (20-for-39) when the two teams met out on the West Coast back in December, albeit Robinson scored 34 points on a scalding 13-for-18.
During an end to end 75-38 walloping of Brooklyn Collegiate, Robinson keyed an 18-4 first half run. He scored five points in five seconds during one crucial sequence.
Christian Brown, Cardinal Hayes--With microwave scoring esque capabilities and a knack for sparking runs when he sticks consecutive 3-pointers, Hayes had been anticipating the type of performance Brown put forth in a CHSAA-AA quarterfinal victory for some time now.
The Class of 2027 off guard morphed into the mad trigger man, sticking five first half 3-pointers en route to a game best 25 points, spearheading Hayes to a 73-69 victory over Nazareth at Fordham University.
Range and consistency have been bedrock assets of Brown as he continues to grow with his scoring repertoire.
He has improved with his attacking and ability to get above the rim.
The responsibility of establishing the culture of this Hayes team falls on Quinnipiac-bound guard Malik Fields.
The First Team All CHSAA selection has been a consistent three level scoring source who also corrals rebounds, both offensively and defensively, as well as any guard in the city.
With Fields to be claimed by graduation in June, Brown will inherit some ownership of a deep, weathered team under Joe Lods.
Zack Wasserman, Columbia Prep: The 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard took a major leap from his freshman to his sophomore season.
After showing out with multiple games of three 3-pointers or more as a freshman, Wasserman transformed his game as a focal point capable of impacting every connotation of the stat sheet.
With his breakthrough sophomore year, Wasserman helped Columbia Prep to arguably the best season in program history with 22 victories.
His deft shooting touch was evident when he scored a career best 45 points on the strength of 10 for 18 from 3-point territory.
As a ball hawking defender who could provide blanketing pressure on the ball and close passing lanes off the ball, Wasserman had multiple games of five steals or more.
During a pulsating one point win over Riverdale, he turned in 33 points, six steals, and six rebounds.
Giving the offense direction and putting his stamp on the game with his multi layered scoring arsenal, Wasserman had 32 points, seven assists, six boards, and six steals against Trevor.
Wasserman was steadily one of the best scorers through all conferences in the city, with big games carrying extra juice. He shot 82 percent from the free throw line on the year.
